Book Review: Knowing Me, Knowing You
By Jennifer Lynn
I was going through our bookshelf the other day and I found an interesting book I'd never seen before. It's called Knowing Me, Knowing You. Now, being the curious person I am, I picked it up and flipped through the pages. It looked all right - it didn't exactly scream 'interesting,' but it looked ok. I turned it over and read the back, and that was what caught my eye. It talked about a test that helped you get along with other people, and I decided to try it. I answered the questions as well as I could, and I found out that I was an S, or a Steady and Cooperative person. There are four types of people you can be, or even more than one, sometimes.
I began to look over the rest of the book to find out more about my score, and it talked about how everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, and how we can use these to help us get along with others better. "You can get a lot out of it - at home, at school, with your friends, and in all of your relationships." (Page 1) It makes a great book for people who have problems making new friends, or anyone who enjoys learning about human nature. I found it interesting to learn about myself in a way I'd never thought of before.
Free Spirit is an award-winning publishing company that specializes in self-help books for kids and teens. They're really nice because they don't preach, and they don't say that this is completely correct the first time around. If the test doesn't seem to fit you, it tells you to try taking it again. It's all about you, to help you understand yourself a bit better. I really enjoyed the book and the test, and it wasn't corny or stupid, which was what I was expecting.
