Every year I promise myself that I will not get involved in another TV show, but sometimes I find myself suckered into a really good show and I am hooked! That is what happened when The O.C. aired.
I have to admit that as a mother of three teenagers, I would have to say that the show is really good and Mother Approved, so far. The show is similar to the other group/teen shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Party of Five.
At first The O.C. was kind of unrealistic, but then it progressed to a well-related show. If you are an O.C. fan or have been thinking about it, but haven’t gotten the chance to watch it, here is a brief history about the characters.
First let me share with you some web sites like http://www.fox.com/oc/home.htm and http://www.fanbolt.com.
When the show first started it was focused on a boy named Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie), a troubled teenager who lived in Chino, California--the wrong side of the tracks. He had some family issues and needed legal help; that is how he met Attorney Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher).
Eventually, Sandy Cohen and his wife, Kirsten Cohen (Kelly Rowan), made room for him within their family and home. Ryan now lives with the Cohens. The adjustment in Newport Beach, California, wasn’t easy and the regulars at Newport Beach were battling on how to deal with a troubled teenager entering their turf.
Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) lives next door from the Cohens. When the show first started she was dating Luke Ward (Chris Carmack), but when Ryan Atwood came to town, Marissa had her eye on Ryan. After several fights between Luke and Ryan, Ryan was the lucky one and won Marissa’s heart.
Luke Ward (Chris Carmack), a star athlete and the captain of the water polo team, is also the protective boyfriend of Marissa Cooper. Luke walks around with a phony front and a short fuse. Once Ryan Atwood entered Newport Beach, Luke was in for a rude awakening.
Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) is Sandy and Kirsten’s only child. He is an awkward yet funny guy with a dork sense of humor. Seth was in love with Summer Roberts (Rachael Bilson), but their personalities and style clashed. Seth finally got a kiss from Summer, but Summer wouldn’t give in too much to her feelings for Seth, until another woman entered his life named Anna (Samaire Armstrong); she was a transplant from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. That is when the competition really started. Now, this awkward kid who never had a woman look at him, has two women fighting over him. This wonderful event in Seth’s life has now forced him to choose one girl; his choice was Anna. Summer is acting as if she doesn’t care, but throws little digs at them or tries to make sure that they are not always alone.
Summer Roberts (Rachael Bilson) is free spirited, a daddy’s girl, and Marissa’s best friend. At first, she ignored Seth’s affection, but began to fall for him. Unfortunately for Summer she wasn’t the chosen one. But one never knows the outcome … we just have to wait and see what happens.
This interesting show is also great for adults.
Stay tuned for Part Two, as it will include updated information of the characters' lives, an introduction of the adults in the show, and talk about the adult issues that are going on.
